SPOT GOLF Attends NGF 2014 Golf Business Symposium
NGF Symposium – Philadelphia, PA
Spot Golf joined over 100 golf industry leaders for the pre-eminent annual golf industry conference at the Union League Club in Philadelphia, PA. The Symposium is a pre-season (post-Masters, pre-U.S. Open) educational conclave designed to SPOT-light timely insights on the state-of-the-industry.
Joe Beditz, Ph.D. President & CEO of NGF and Greg Nathan, SVP of NGF, addressed the state of the industry, which looks to be in a much brighter SPOT than the news reports. We also saw innovations that the industry is exploring to attract the Millennial generation, increase participation and profits, including – Foot Golf with soccer balls and really big holes on underutilized golf courses….do you yell “EIGHT” when a soccer ball is flying the wrong way,.. Golf Board, where you roll around the golf course on an electric golf cart that is fashioned after a surfboard,.. which should speed up the game, or place a new emphasis on “playing through”…and other concepts that seem to nick away at the noble tradition and authenticity of the game of golf. TaylorMade and its CEO, Mark King, are behind a larger cup concept that is gaining traction because it makes golf easier and faster for beginners and average players.
Spot Golf’s fun concept targets beginners and non-golfers, as well as expert golfers, and gives every player a chance to improve with each swing. Spot Golf was well received by the people we met with who SPOT-ted how our technological innovations respects the imbedded capital that golf represents and keys in on Millennials’ attachment to their mobile devices. Spot Golf had a great time in Philly and we expect lasting and fun partnerships to grow out of NGF’s Symposium. See you next year!
